Ohio Machine Recognized Twice in Last Week for 2017 MLL Championship

COLUMBUS, Ohio- The Ohio Machine were recognized twice in the last week for winning the 2017 MLL Championship.

The first came last Monday evening, as President Pro Tem Michael Stinziano and Columbus City Council presented The Machine with a Resolution at City Hall.

"The Ohio Machine's 2017 Championship comes as a result of hard work and dedication," Stinziano said. "The team's continued commitment to public service is appreciated by the residents of the City of Columbus. This Council and our community wishes the team the best of luck as they approach the upcoming season."

Machine President Ryan Chenault and Head Coach and General Manager Bear Davis were on hand for the recognition and were given the opportunity to speak at the meeting.

"Our organization works hard to help expose Ohio lacrosse to the rest of the world and show the commitment and success that we've put into the game." Davis said. "I can't wait to see what's to come in the future for us and the sport."

The second recognition came last night at the Village of Obetz Government Center, as Village of Obetz Mayor D. Greg Scott presented Chenault with a Proclamation.

"I want to congratulate the Machine on their 2017 Championship," Scott said. "I wish them nothing but the best in the 2018 season. #OilUp!"

Chenault reiterated the organization's desire to extend the longevity of the game and expand its potential reach.

"We're proud to be a catalyst for the growth of the game in Obetz, Columbus and throughout the state of Ohio," Chenault said. "We are honored to receive both of these recognitions. Many of our fans reside in the city of Columbus, and the Village of Obetz gave us our home, so these recognitions are tremendously special to our organization."

After an opening week bye, Ohio will open up the season this Sunday, April 29, against the New York Lizards at Fortress Obetz at 2 p.m. Representatives from Herff Jones, the official ring designer of Ohio Machine's 2017 championship ring, will present the Machine players with their rings in a special pre-game on-field celebration.
