Ohio Machine News Release

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio Machine were recognized Tuesday morning by the Franklin County Board of Commissioners in Downtown Columbus. The Board, which consists of Kevin L. Boyce, Marilyn Brown, and John O'Grady, presented Machine President Ryan Chenault and Head Coach and General Manager Bear Davis with a Resolution for winning the 2017 Major League Lacrosse championship.

"This is just the start," Chenault said. "It's a very bright future for the game of lacrosse in the state of Ohio. We are honored to be recognized and I would like to thank the Franklin County Board of Commissioners for their generosity."

The Machine's 2017 championship came back in August 2017, as Ohio defeated the Denver Outlaws 17-12 at Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, TX.

"Our guys worked so hard and they are the best players in the world," Davis said. "As our sport continues to grow, we appreciate the support and the recognition of getting the sport out there."

As part of the Resolution, Franklin County recognized the Machine organization's efforts to grow the game of lacrosse with the Ohio Machine Foundation, which provides the platform for the team to give back to the community and ensure that lacrosse is made available to every Ohioan.

"Lacrosse is beginning to grow here in central Ohio," O'Grady said. "When my niece played for the [Ohio State] Buckeyes, it was only really big on the east coast. Now it's gotten bigger and bigger, and it's moved more into the Midwest and even across the country."

The Machine will now turn their attention to the 2018 season. After an opening week bye, Ohio will open up the season on April 29 against the New York Lizards at Fortress Obetz at 2 p.m. Representatives from Herff Jones, the official ring designer of Ohio Machine's 2017 championship ring, will present the Machine players with their rings in a special pre-game on-field celebration.
