Ohio Machine News Release

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio Machine have announced the addition of midfielder Frank Brown and attackman Shawn Evans to the 25-man roster, and have activated defender Jackson Place.

Brown was selected 58th overall at the 2017 Major League College Draft by the Rochester Rattlers. Later that year, he was selected 24th overall in the 2017 NLL Entry Draft by the Georgia Swarm. He played in six games for the Swarm before being signed to the Rochester Knighthawks in March of 2018. Prior to his professional lacrosse career, Brown played four years for Hobart College. In 2017, he was voted the Northeast Conference Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year while being named an Honorable Mention All-American after leading the Statesmen with 32 goals and 50 points. During the summer of 2016 and 2017, he played for the Native Sons of the Can-Am Senior B Box Lacrosse league, winning the Cam-Am Championship both years and earning bids to the President's Cup.

Evans was drafted by the Chesapeake Bayhawks in the sixth round of the 2017 Supplemental Draft and scored nine goals, dished out five assists, and picked up eight ground balls in four games. This season, Evans played three games for the Denver Outlaws, recording five goals and six assists. Besides the MLL, Evans has played in 161 NLL games, totaling 212 regular season games, 402 goals and 691 assists. On the world stage, he helped Team Canada to gold medals at the 2011 and 2015 FIL World Indoor Lacrosse Championships, receiving MVP honors in 2015.

Place was added to the injured reserve following the June 17 game at Dallas. Prior to the injury, Place played in four games for the Machine this season, picking up 12 ground balls and causing two turnovers.

In a corresponding move, midfielder Kyle Cain and goaltender Austin Ambrose have been added to the practice squad, and midfielder Robbie Guiliano and goaltender Parker Fairey have been waived. With the 2018 World Games coming up, Mark Matthews and Marcus Holman have been added to the World Games Inactive List.
