NWHL Weekend Recap; League Announces First TV Deal
November 17, 2015 - Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) News Release
They call it puck luck!
Danielle Ward and the Connecticut Whale top the NWHL standings following her game-winning goal with 55 seconds left that hit the skate of a Buffalo defender. After a scoreless first, Kelly Babstock's short-handed tally and a snipe from Kelli Stack put Connecticut up 2-0. That lead wouldn't last as Buffalo scored two goals (Devon Skeats and Kourtney Kunichika) within the first five minutes of the third.
New York Gets A Win
It might have taken four tries, but the Riveters finally captured their first win in franchise history thanks to Nana Fujimoto's 42 save effort.
"She was unreal," Riveters' assistant captain Morgan Fritz-Ward said after the win. "Even at practice she was unreal. Just to see her shine in the game was awesome. She kept us in it for sure."
Bray Ketchum's game-winning goal came during a five-on-three during the third period. Hilary Knight and Kacey Bellamy scored in the defeat for Boston.
