NWHL & opendorse Form Partnership to Enhance the Connection Between Players and Fans

Published on October 15, 2019 under Premier Hockey Federation (PHF) News Release

The NWHL's ongoing efforts to enhance the deep connection between the players and fans have taken another important stride today with the announcement of a partnership with opendorse, the athlete marketing platform.

The opendorse/NWHL alignment will increase the players' presence and engagement on social media. In addition to sharing organic content, NWHL players have the opportunity to drive tune-in to Twitch streams and maximize corporate partnerships. This is particularly important with the 50/50 split of revenue from league-level sponsorships and media rights deals between the NWHL and players.

"Our partnership with opendorse is another important step for the NWHL and our players as we advance the business of professional women's hockey," said NWHL Commissioner Dani Rylan. "The deal gives all of our magnificent athletes and role models the opportunity to grow their personal brands and further increase awareness of our league and partners."

NWHL will utilize opendorse to provide players the ability to easily publish their most powerful moments from the ice - highlights, in-game images, and other media - to their personal social channels with the tap of a button. The league can send players personalized content, built specifically to engage their audiences, and players have the option of adding their own messaging.

"I love the platform that opendorse provides NWHL players because we are easily able to share our best moments as professional athletes," said Rebecca Morse, a defender and assistant captain with the Metropolitan Riveters. "The connection between our loyal fans and NWHL players will become even stronger, and we will reach new fans, too. That makes this partnership with opendorse a major victory for the players and the NWHL."

The alignment with the NWHL marks opendorse's third league-wide partnership, joining the NHL and ECHL.

"We are inspired by the athletes of the NWHL and we are firm believers in the brand that Commissioner Dani Rylan and her team have built for women's professional hockey," said opendorse co-founder and CEO Blake Lawrence. "Our team is extremely proud of this partnership and our continued efforts in the sport. We look forward to creating positive impact on the NWHL's social media footprint and on the league's bottom line as the business continues to grow in the seasons ahead."
