Atlanta Gets By Kansas City
Mohegan Sun Resort and Casino, Uncasville,Ct. - The NWBL PRO CUP 2002 got under way this evening at the Mohengan Sun Resort with the Atlanta Justice squeaking out a 79-76 victory over the Kansas City Legacy in the first game of a double header tonight. Leading the way for the Justice was Tracy Henderson with 21 points and Shyronda Mifflin with 17. The Justice leading 41 to 36 at half time and by 12 with 5:12 to play the Legacy cut into the lead and pulled within two with less than 14 second left and the Legacy with the ball they tried to get it to their high scorer Liz Tucker who had 22 points and 10 rebounds could not get the ball off for the basket. Roshonda Reed scored 19 for Kansas City.
Houston Wins in OT 86-78
In The second game of the night the Houston Stealth took on the Springfield Spirit and after 40 minutes of play the score was tied at 74-74. In overtime two back to back three point baskets gave the Stealth a 86-78 lead which they would never give up, and sent the Spirit down to defeat, 86-78. Now Houston will take on the Birmingham Power tomorrow at 4pm, while at 6pm the Chicago Blaze will meet Atlanta, and at 8p.m the Spirit play the Legacy.
