
NWBL announces new team in Colorado

Fort Collins, CO â Triple Crown Sports president Dave King announced Wednesday the acquisition of a National Women's Basketball League (NWBL) team.
The professional team will be called the Colorado Chill. The Chill is in negotiations to play its home games at the new Budweiser Events Center at The Ranch, located just south of the Windsor exit on Interstate 25.
"We are so excited to be able to bring this level of basketball to the fans in this area," said King, who addressed a group of 80 media, fans and community members at a news conference Wednesday. "I think it could become a fan favorite. It could be something people will build their winters around. They're going to love it.
"As we head into our fourth season, our player level has improved exponentially, and so has our ownership expertise. Triple Crown Sports is one of the premier sports companies in the nation. We're excited to bring on a franchisee whose background is in sports. It's a perfect fit." Said Patrick Alexander, President and co-owner of the NWBL, "We're glad to be in Colorado â it starts moving our league west. And the Triple Crown organization is just the right group to do it.

The NWBL is a Professional women's basketball league with franchises in Fort Collins, CO; Springfield, MA; Knoxville, TN; Chicago, IL; Birmingham, AL; Houston, TX and Grand Rapids, MI. The League boasts some of the best players in women' s basketball today, including, Sue Bird, Sheryl Swoopes, Swin Cash, Kara Wolters, Tina Thompson, Rebecca Lobo, and Becky Hammon.
