Acadiana Cane Cutters News Release
The Acadiana Cane Cutters got another fine pitching performance from WIlmer Nunez and timely hitting from Trey Jimmerson to help shutout the Woodlands Strykers, 4-0 on a warm Louisiana night at Fabacher Field.
It was a good old fashion pitching duel between Wilmer Nunez of the Cutters and Kyle Porter of the Strykers.
The game stayed scoreless until the sixth inning when Trey Jimmerson knocked in an RBI single to left to give the Cane Cutters a 1-0 lead. A batter later, Kyle Mendenhall ripped an RBI single to right to give Acadiana a 2-0 lead.
Jimmerson stayed hot in the next inning as he laced a two-run single into center to give the Cutters a comfortable lead late in the game at 4-0.
Nunez tossed six shutout innings and only allowed three hits on the night to get the win.
The Cane Cutters will look for the series sweep tomorrow night against the Strykers at Fabacher Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7pm.
