NPSL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Offensive
Joe Reiniger, Midfielder, Milwaukee Wave- (two games: 21 points, two 3-point goals, six 2-point goals, three assists, game-winning goal, power-play goal)
Joe Reiniger totaled a league-best 21 points in two games this past week. He scored nine points in a 27-18 win over the Kansas City Attack on Fri., Jan. 19, on four goals (3-point goal and three 2-point goals), including a power-play tally. He then notched 12 points in a 17-6 victory over the Wichita Wings on Sun., Jan. 21, netting four goals, a 3-point goal, three 2-point goals and three assists in the game. His performance helped the Wave record their third consecutive victory.
Reiniger leads the NPSL in 3-point goals (8), ranks second in restart goals (9) and is tied for tenth in the league in points (62). He also leads the Wave in scoring with 62 points in 11 games, which is just over half the number of games Milwaukee has played this season (21). Michael King has played every game for the Wave this year and is second on the team with 47 points.
Defensive
Alan Placek, Goalkeeper- Detroit Rockers- (two games: two wins, 34 saves on 44 shots)
Alan Placek made his first two starts of the season and won both games, making a combined 34 saves on 44 shots. He stopped 17 of 22 shots against the Baltimore Blast on Fri., Jan. 19, to record the victory in his season debut. He held Baltimore to only 10 points, which is four points below the team's points-per-game average.
In Detroit's 14-10 victory over the Kansas City Attack on Sun. Jan. 21, Placek once again turned aside 17 of 22 shots to register the win. He also came up with some spectacular saves during a Kansas City power play late in the game to seal the victory.
Placek's first two NPSL career victories also marked the first time this season that Detroit put together back-to-back wins.

Crunch backup goalkeeper Nick DiCello put in a stellar performance in Cleveland's 22-17 win over the Kansas City Attack by registering a season-high 26 saves on 36 shots. Last week's NPSL Offensive Player of the Week, John Ball (two 2-point goals, assist), along with teammate Nikola Vignjevic (3-point goal, 2-poing goal) led Cleveland's offensive charge with five points each. The Attack's Clovis Simas led all scorers with six points in the losing effort.

Philadelphia held a 5-2 first quarter lead and never looked back in picking up the 18-12 win over the Harrisburg Heat. The KiXXs' Kevin Sloan notched six points (3-point goal, 2-point goal, assist) in the victory. Heat goalkeeper Doug Petras stopped 21 shots on 39 attempts in a losing effort.

Milwaukee's Joe Reiniger (3-point goal, three 2-point goals) scored a game-high nine points as Milwaukee pounded Kansas City, 27-18, in front of 7,391 fans at the Bradley Center. Alex Zotinca (two 2-point goals, assist) led the Kansas City offense with five points.

Droo Callahan's game-high six points (two 3-point goals) and goalkeeper Alan Placek's 17 saves in his season debut helped Detroit pick up the 14-10 win over Baltimore. Denison Cabral led the Blast with four points (two 2-point goals). The Detroit victory evened the season series at one win apiece.

Trailing 11-9 after three quarters, Harrisburg outscored Buffalo 9-2 in final frame to pull off the come-from-behind victory, 18-13, at the PA State Farm Arena. Harrisburg's David Bascome barely missed scoring for the cycle as he tallied a hat trick and six points (two 2-point goals, a 1-point goal, assist) to pace the Heat offense. Tim Leonard led the Blizzard with a game-high seven points (three 2-point goals, assist).

KiXX goalkeeper Peter Pappas recorded his 100th career victory and marked the occasion by tallying the first goal of his career as Philadelphia beat Cleveland, 21-9, at the First Union Center. The KiXXs' Domenic Mobilio led all scorers with six points (two 2-point goals, two 1-point goals). Nikola Vignjevic continued his strong play since joining the Crunch as he recorded four points (2-point goal, 1-point goal, assist) in the loss.

Despite being out shot 34-20, Baltimore walked away with a 15-6 win over the Blizzard to remain a game and a half out of the American Conference lead. Denison Cabral put in a strong performance for the Blast with a game-high five points (3-point goal, two 1-point goals). Buffalo could only manage three goals on 34 shots and were held scoreless in the first and third quarters.

Leading 10-8 at halftime, the Detroit Rockers outscored Kansas City 4-2 in the second half to claim the 14-10 victory and record back-to-back wins for the first time this season. Martin Nash led the Detroit offense with a game-high eight points (two 3-point goals, two assists). Wes Wade led the Attack with five points (two 2-point goals, assist). With the win, Detroit remains a perfect 2-0 against the Attack this season.

Joe Reiniger exploded for a game-high 12 points (3-point goal, three 2-point goals, three assists) to lead the Milwaukee Wave past Wichita, 17-6, at the Bradley Center. The Wave held an 8-2 advantage after the first period and did not trail in the game. Andy Cyrus scored two of the three Wichita goals and led the team with four points (two 2-point goals).
LEAGUE NOTES
- The Blizzard and the NPSL held a press conference today, Tue., Jan. 23, at 2:00 p.m. in the HSBC Arena Main pavilion. They announced the National and American Conference team selections and discussed the future of the NPSL All-Star Game
- The game between Philadelphia and Toronto on Dec. 17, 2000, that was postponed due to inclement weather, has been rescheduled for Feb. 19, 2001 at 7:35 pm at the Hershey Centre
- Last weekend marked the first time Detroit won consecutive games this season; the back-to-back victories puts the Rockers within one game of the final playoff spot in the National Conference
- Buffalo is 1-10 in road matches this season, with its only victory coming on Dec. 8 vs. the Baltimore Blast (16-14 OT)
- Harrisburg welcomed its one-millionth fan in franchise history on Saturday vs. Philadelphia
- Philadelphia has held an opponent to 10 or fewer points 11 times in 18 games this season
- The KiXX lead the league with a 12-2 record when scoring the opening goal of the game, while the Blast are 5-1 when scoring first
- Milwaukee's 17-6 victory over the Wichita Wings on Sunday was the team's 200th win at the Bradley Center
- The league-leading KiXX are a perfect 6-0 outside their conference and 8-4 against teams in the American Conference
