
NPF Battle of the Bats

In week 7 of the NPF Battle of the Bats competition, WILSON/DEMARINI had an impressive showing with a total of 12 homeruns for the week bringing their grand total for the season to 54 homeruns. The top competitors hitting for WILSON/DEMARINI included Samantha Findlay (Bandits) and Oli Keohohou (Glory), both with three homeruns a piece. Lyndsey Angus (Riptide) and Trena Peel (Force) each had two. Lindsay Gardner (Thunder) had one homerun and Kate Robinson maintained her lead by adding one homerun to her total of 13. The Rockford Thunder and Washington Glory had two nights of competition last week to make up for week one competition that was postponed due to weather. Sara Larquier (pictured left) of the Glory added six homeruns to her score (two for week 1 and four for week 7), bringing her total to 11 homeruns which earns her a second place spot on behalf of WORTH. WORTH is holding on strongly to second place with a total of 46 homeruns.
Other contributors for WORTH included Tonya Callahan (Thunder) with two homeruns and Rachel Folden (Bandits) and Jess Merchant (Riptide), both with one homerun.
MIZUNO had a total six homeruns for the week bringing its overall total to 25 homeruns. Contributors for the week included Savannah Long (Force), Shanna Diller (Thunder) and Courtney Bures (Glory), each with one homerun and Jaime Clark (Bandits) with three homeruns. Clark is tied for third place with Angus, Findlay and Kristen Butler (Racers), each with ten homeruns.
COMBAT added another five homeruns with one each from Stephanie Fischer (Thunder), Angelena Mexicano (Racers), Jessica Moore (Glory) and two from Stacy May who stood in for Bandits Nicole Trimboli. Another three homeruns came from the week 1 make-up competition between the Thunder and the Glory with Fischer adding another two homeruns and Trimboli and Moore adding one each to Combat's overall score of 33.
Honorable mention goes to Kristen Butler who saved her homeruns for the Akron Racers exhibition game against the USA Olympic Softball Team. Butler crushed a ball over the left-field fence for a two-run homer to give Akron the 2-0 lead in the first inning.
