Bellingham Slam News Release
Indianapolis, IN. - Joe Newman, ABA co-founder, today announced a 2005 expansion team in the fast-growing professional basketball league- Everett, Washington. According to Newman, "Everett is a natural fit within our new divisional plans. Gaining a team in Washington State allows the ABA to provide natural rivalries within the northwest division as well as strengthening the league within a basketball crazed community. We are fortunate to have such an enthusiastic ownership group in an already proven sports environment."
The Everett group has the potential to put one of the most premier products together within the ABA. This group will be headed by John Dominguez, a real estate investor, who has put together an extremely detailed and aggressive marketing strategy that is already preparing for the 2005 season. The owners and operators of this group will have combined over 50 years of basketball coaching experience ranging from high school, college, and all the way to the NBA. Dominguez stated, "I believe that with the people that our group has surrounded itself with, we are able to draw on very successful basketball backgrounds. This will allow us to attract the quality athletes, along with the family based basketball fan and maintain their interest. The basketball knowledge that is involved with this group is well diversified and simply amazing. Our team here in the Northwest is already preparing for the 2005 season and is excited about the incredible growth of the ABA."
Dominguez also commented, "We have watched the ABA expand over the last year and we are very impressed. Joe Newman, and staff, has done a tremendous job expanding this league and making it truly one of the most anticipated and exciting professional sports leagues in the country. We are very thankful for this opportunity." He added, "We have high expectations for our team and we are promising a family oriented experience. We want our team to be serviceable to the community and one that continues to exemplify the spirit of the Northwest, and particularly the city of Everett."
"Vision is key for our organization at this point," states Dominguez. "We are already planning our tryouts, venue, merchandising, marketing strategies and staffing. Events for this team will begin immediately. The response that we have gotten in the last two weeks is phenomenal regarding the potential of bringing professional basketball to Everett. And we encourage our future fans to log on to our web site at www.washingtonaba.com and watch for themselves how our progress is going, and where they can catch future events for this team. Our fans will have a voice, and we are the team of the fans. ABA basketball is coming to the Northwest and they better be ready to enjoy some fast paced, exciting basketball."
