Hamilton Nationals News Release
Cornell University star Jason Noble will make his professional lacrosse debut Thursday night in the shadow of one of the biggest stages in all of sports: New York City.
Noble and the Hamilton Nationals (5-1) will battle the New York Lizards (2-3) at 7:00 p.m. at Icahn Stadium on Randall's Island.
"It's a chance for him to play. He is a fast, athletic and intelligent player who brings a lot to the table," said Hamilton General Manager Stu Brown. "We hope he makes it hard for us to take him out of the lineup."
The Nationals activated the Cornell defenseman, following a senior season where he anchored the 14th best defense in the nation en route to the NCAA Division I Final Four. The Orangeville, Ontario native was the Nationals' second-round selection (10th overall) in the 2013 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft.
In 2013, Noble earned First Team All-American accolades, to go along with his third All-Ivy selection and his second First Team honor. He was one of 10 finalists for the Yeardley Reynolds Love Unsung Hero Award. The three-time All-American played in 65 games at Cornell, registering 215 ground balls and five points.
Noble excels at the indoor game, as well, and is a projected first-round pick in the upcoming National Lacrosse League Entry Draft. He played box lacrosse for seven seasons for the Orangeville Junior "A" Northmen and won Minto Cups in 2008, 2009 and 2012. Noble was named a 2012 First Team All-Star and the winner of the John "Gus" McCauley Memorial Award as the outstanding defensive player at the Junior "A" level. In 2007, he led the Orangeville Northmen Midget box team to the Ontario provincial gold medal as the team captain.
