NLL Games Score on Canadian TV
Published on September 10, 2003 under National Lacrosse League (NLL) News Release
The National Lacrosse League has announced a three-year agreement with 'The Score' television network to carry the League's national television package in Canada. The announcement was made earlier today in front of a gathering of Canada's top sports executives at the Canada Sports Forum in Hull, Quebec.
The Score broadcast schedule for the 2003-2004 season will consist of fifteen live regular season game broadcasts, spread across the schedule on a "Game of the Week" format. The broadcast schedule will begin with the season opening contest on December 26, 2003 as Arizona hosts the Vancouver Ravens. The full schedule of games is listed below.
The Score will also broadcast the League's All-Star Game on February 22, 2004 as well as all five games of the 2003-2004 Champion's Cup Playoffs. The Score will air all of its NLL games live.
"We are pleased to be on 'The Score'. The Score has a hip, young audience that fits our demographic", said Commissioner Jim Jennings. "It gives us the best opportunity to grow the league in Canada by putting the games on live national television."
"The National Lacrosse League is a perfect fit for the younger demographic that makes up a large part of The Score audience," said David Errington, Vice President and General Manager of The Score. "It's a hip, exciting product, and we look forward to presenting these games on live television for our viewers." The Score reaches approximately 5.5 million of Canada's approximately 8 million cable television homes. The all-sports network offers round-the-clock sports news and live sports coverage. For more information, please visit the official website of The Score at www.thescore.ca.
The Score will be the carrier of the league's national television package in Canada. The league's three Canadian teams (Calgary Roughnecks, Toronto Rock and the Vancouver Ravens) will retain the ability to broadcast games that are not on 'The Score' schedule. An announcement regarding league television in the United States is expected in the coming weeks.
