NLL Defensive Player and Goaltender of the Year Announcement

(New York City)—Toronto Rock defenseman Pat Coyle has been selected as the 2001-2002 NLL Defensive Player of the Year, announced today.

In his sixth season, Coyle routinely shut down the opposition's forwards, while helping lead the Rock defense to a League-low 176 goals against.

The Toronto, Ontario native registered 16 points (4G, 12A) and finished third best in team loose balls with 109.

Coyle along with the rest of the Toronto Rock are set to appear in their fourth consecutive NLL Championship Game appearance this Saturday night against the Albany Attack at the Pepsi Arena with a start time of 8:15 p.m.

The League Awards are voted on by the Board of Governors and General Managers of the League's thirteen member clubs.

ATTACK GOALTENDER ROB BLASDELL NAMED 2001-2002 NLL GOALTENDER OF THE YEAR

(New York City)—Albany Attack goaltender Rob Blasdell has been named the NLL Goaltender of the Year, announced today.

The 6'1 Brantford, Ontario native led all NLL net minders in total saves (644), wins (13), and minutes played (954).

In addition, ‘Blazer' finished second and third respectively in League save percentage (0.775) and goals against average (12.01).

Blasdell and the rest of the Albany Attack compete in their first-ever NLL Champions Cup final this Saturday night against the Toronto Rock at the Pepsi Arena with a start time of 8:15 p.m.
