
NIFL Announces Players of the Week
April 27, 2004 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL) News Release
LAFAYETTE, LA--Action continues to heat up in the National Indoor Football League as Week 7 comes to a close, and Week 8 games are just around the corner.
The NIFL is pleased to announce the top players in Week 7 action from both the Atlantic and Pacific Conference, as follows:
Atlantic Conference:
Tony Racioppi, QB - Atlantic City CardSharks
Atlantic Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week
CardSharks QB Tony Racioppi had a great game against a tough Fort Wayne team over the weekend. Even though Atlantic City lost 63-54, Racioppi led a second half scoring blitz, completing 67% of his passes. He was 28-of-42 for 279 yards and six touchdowns and also rushed three times for eight yards and one score.
Will Hall, QB - Tupelo FireAnts
Atlantic Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week
FireAnts QB Will Hall helped orchestrate a come from behind win against the Lexington Horsemen on Saturday. Hall completed 16-of 24 passes for 191 yards and five touchdowns, with a completion percentage of 67%. He also rushed for 76 yards on 12 carries for two scores, lifting the âAnts over the Horsemen 67-56.
Andy Peterson, LB/DB - Show Me Believers
Atlantic Conference Defensive Player of the Week
Show Me LB/DB Andy Peterson was responsible for 12.5 total tackles, including two tackles for a loss against the Oklahoma Crude on Saturday. In the big 75-20 Show Me win, Peterson also was responsible for two sacks, one interception, and one pass defended.
James DeMaise, RB/KR - Atlantic City CardSharks
Atlantic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week
CardSharks RB/KR James DeMaise was a special teams threat over the weekend. Though Atlantic City lost to Fort Wayne 63-54, DeMaise continued to rack up return yardage. He returned five kickoffs for a total of 130 yards. DeMaise also ran back a 46-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
Pacific Conference:
Terrance Bryant, QB - Black Hills Red Dogs
Pacific Conference Offensive Player of the Week
Bryant, a native of Miami, FL, helped lead the Red Dogs to their first win of the 2004 season against the Tri-City Diesel, 48-38, both on the ground and in the air. Bryant rushed for 103 total yards on 11 carries, scoring three touchdowns to boot. He also completed 25-of-32 passes for 156 yards and three touchdowns.
Travis Salter, LB - Billings Outlaws
Pacific Conference Defensive Player of the Week
Outlaws linebacker Travis Salter was a tackle machine this past weekend as Billings went on to defeat Wyoming 55-20. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound Salter wrapped up a total of 17 tackles before all was said and done. Billings will enjoy a bye week this weekend and will return to action next week at Lincoln.
Chase Long, K - Omaha Beef
Pacific Conference Special Teams Player of the Week
For the second week in a row, Beef kicker Chase Long has been named POW for his kicking efforts. In the Beef's 38-35 overtime win against Lincoln, Long not only kicked the game winning 32-yard FG, he also managed to rack up 20 of the Beef's 38 total points as he completed 6-of-8 FG attempts, all 20+ yards in length.
