Next Two KC Opponents Play Tonight on NFL Network

March 25, 2011 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Kansas City Command News Release

COMMAND Fans who are suffering from withdrawals this week due to the bye are in luck. The NFL Network is coming to their rescue by broadcasting this week's game between the Spokane Shock and the Iowa Barnstormers; both of which happen to be the COMMAND's next opponents. In Week 4, KC travels to Spokane, and Week 5 will be here in Kansas City at Sprint Center. So not only will our fans get their Arena Football fix for the week, they'll get to scout the opposition prior to the team's home opener!

The Spokane Shock

Last season's Arena Bowl champions the Spokane Shock currently stand third in the league for passing with 659 yards, but have yet to score a win in their first two games. Head Coach Rob Keefe has a 16-5 coaching record (.800) and finished last season with only three losses. He's the youngest coach in AFL history to win an ArenaBowl, at 29. On the field, the Shock are led by Quarterback Kyle Rowley. So far they've put up respectable numbers in their first two games, but questions abound as to whether or not they're the same team that won the Arena Bowl last year. Still, with one of the more loyal and rowdy contingents of fans in the league, Spokane's a formidable opponent for any team. Unfortunately, this will not be a home game for the Shock; fortunately, the Shock has a historical 86% win record in road games. In fact, last year they had the best road game record in the league, losing only one.

The Iowa Barnstormers

Being only a short drive from Kansas City, the Iowa Barnstormers are by default the COMMAND's conference rivals. Quarterback Brad Banks threw for a respectable 283 yards in their first game, and as a University of Iowa graduate, has strong ties to the local community. Although an AFL rookie, Banks has played professional football in Canada for the last few years. He'll be passing to receivers Todd Blythe and Larry Beavers, who are averaging 14.56 and 12.75 yards per reception, respectively.

How You Can Watch

If your cable provider does not currently carry the NFL Network, make sure you call them up and ask for it! In the meantime, the KC Flight Crew, the COMMAND's official booster club, have organized a watch party at the Hooters in Independence. To RSVP for this, please follow this link to Facebook.
