New Mexico United News Release
Albuquerque, NM - New Mexico United has teamed up with Emmy Award-Winner and the former host of the Daily Show, Trevor Noah, to create "The World According to Football," a five-part docu-series that travels around the world, learning about how soccer functions as a mirror to society. Episode Two of this series focuses on the New Mexico United Academy, and their efforts to buck the traditional American "pay-to-play" system through a fully-scholarshipped program.
The episode follows the journey of United forward and New Mexico-native Cristian Nava, as he fights to be seen in the current American soccer landscape, and features a deep dive into the work of the Somos Unidos Foundation in helping to make that dream a reality.
Trevor Noah is the Executive Producer and host of the series, which jumps across continents and clubs, exploring the way soccer changes and reflects the world we live in.
All five episodes are available to stream now through the Showtime/Paramount+ apps.
