Nationals Walters and Merrill Named to All-MLL Team

*(Annapolis, Md.)... *Hamilton Nationals midfielder Joe Walters and defenseman Brodie Merrill were named to the* *2011 Lacrosse.com All-Major League Lacrosse team, which recognizes the best players at each position. The selections were based on votes submitted by the general managers and head coaches of the six MLL teams in addition to voting by MLL fans.

Walters, who was named to the All-MLL Team for the third time in four years, ranked fifth in the MLL this season with 39 points. The Nationals' leading scorer, Walters scored 18 goals, including a two-point goal, with a career-high 20 assists. The former University of Maryland standout is in his fifth MLL season. Walters has scored 114 career goals with 69 assists. He also has six two-point goals in his career.

Named as the Warrior Defensive Player of the Year for the sixth straight season, Merrill earned his sixth All-MLL Team selection after leading the league with 77 ground balls. In addition, he led all MLL defenders with four goals, including a two-point marker, with 12 assists. Merrill, who completed his seventh season in the MLL, has scored 35 goals, including a pair of two-point markers, with 60 assists in his career. He also ranks second in MLL history with 524 career ground balls.

The Nationals are returning to the playoffs after a one-year absence. The Nats won the MLL title in 2009, which was their only other postseason berth. Hamilton (7-5) meets the Denver Outlaws (7-5) on Saturday, August 27th in a 3:00 p.m. semifinal showdown at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN 2 and ESPN3.com.
