August 14, 2012 - Major League Lacrosse (MLL)
Hamilton Nationals News Release

The Canadian Lacrosse Association announced today that Hamilton Nationals defenseman Brodie Merrill has been named to Team Canada's roster for the "Duel in Denver." The Orangeville, Ontario native was named to the team along with fellow Canadian headliners: John Grant Jr., Mark Matthews, Jordan McBride and Jeremy Noble.

In a prelude to the 2014 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Championship, Canada's Men's National Team will take on Team USA in an exhibition game on Saturday, September 8th. The "Duel in Denver" will be held at Dick's Sport Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo. at 7:00 p.m. (MST). The game is a rematch of the 2010 Federation of International Lacrosse World Championship gold-medal game, which was won by the U.S.

Merrill recently completed his fourth season with the Nationals and eighth in Major League Lacrosse. In 2012, he set Hamilton's single-season ground ball record and passed Paul Cantabene as the MLL's all-time ground ball leader. Merrill has been named the Warrior Defensive Player of the Year and an All-MLL Team selection for six straight seasons. He has also won three MLL Championships (2005, 2008 and 2009). In 2005, he was named the MLL's Rookie of the Year after being selected third overall pick in the MLL Collegiate Draft.

Tickets to the "Duel in Denver" are on sale now at the Dick's Sporting Goods Park box office, all Colorado Dick's Sporting Goods retail kiosks, online at TicketHorse.com, or by calling 303.53.HORSE.
