Nationals' Goalies Rodgers, Queener Re-Sign with MLL

(Hamilton, February 29)... Major League Lacrosse (MLL) announced today the signing of Hamilton Nationals goaltenders Scott Rodgers and Brett Queener for the 2012 season.

Rodgers, a Notre Dame alumnus, was a second-round selection (seventh overall) by the Nationals in the 2010 MLL Collegiate Draft. He is entering his third season with the team. Last season, Rodgers played in nine games for the Nationals and ranked third in the league with an 11.46 goals against average. He also ranked fourth in the league with a .558 save percentage and recorded 106 saves. Rodgers has recorded a career. 563 save percentage and has made 182 career saves in 17 games with the Nationals.

Queener, an Albany alumnus, was a fifth-round selection (48th overall) by the Rochester Rattlers in the 2008 MLL Collegiate Draft. Queener is entering his fourth season with the Nationals, his fifth season with the league. Last season, the goaltender played in 6 games for the Nationals and saw 121 minutes of game time with 31 saves. Queener won back-to-back MLL Championships; in 2008 he helped the Rattlers win their first Steinfeld Trophy and in 2009 he helped lead the Nationals to another championship. Queener is a two-time MLL All-Star.

"Obviously, anytime I can play lacrosse I am excited. I look forward to playing with by brother (Brice) and all the other great players on the team," said Queener. "Last year, we had a young team, but we knew what it took to win. We got as close as we could without winning the championship. We have to bring that same passion to have success like we had last season."

The Nationals will open the 2012 season against the Denver Outlaws, on Saturday, May 5th at 9:00 p.m. at INVESCO Field at Mile High. Hamilton makes its home debut on Friday, May 18th with an 11:00 a.m. contest against the Chesapeake Bayhawks at Ron Joyce Stadium at McMaster University.
