Nationals and Lizards Swap Players

The Hamilton Nationals announced that they have acquired midfielder John Antoniades from the New York Lizards in exchange for midfielder Matt Dolente.

Antoniades, pronounced An-ton-EYE-dees, was New York's sixth-round pick (47th overall) in the 2013 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft. The Hauppauge, NY native played his college lacrosse at Hofstra University. In 2013, he ranked third in the Colonial Athletic Association, 27th in Division I and led the Pride in ground balls with 76. He also ranked sixth in the CAA while winning 128 of 256 faceoffs (500). The 5-9, 173-pound faceoff man was selected to play in the North-South Senior All-Star Game.

He played in 58 games during his Hofstra career, collecting six goals, seven assists, 282 ground balls and winning 625 of 1121 faceoffs (.557). Antoniades was a 2011 Division I All-American after ranking fifth in the country in faceoff percentage with a .642 mark. He was a two-time All-CAA selection, earning first team honors as a sophomore and second team honors as a junior. Antoniades was also a CAA All-Rookie pick in 2010.

Dolente heads to the Lizards after spending the past three seasons with Hamilton. In 2013, he played in five games and notched one goal, 28 ground balls and 67 faceoff wins. Last season, he established the team single-season faceoff wins record with 219. The Johns Hopkins product was named to the 2012 MLL All-Star Game.
