Nationals Activate Dan Coates

The Hamilton Nationals have activated defenseman Dan Coates for this Saturday's game against the Rochester Rattlers. The Nationals will host the Rochester Rattlers on Saturday, June 9th at 7:00 p.m. at McMaster University.

The St. Catharines, Ontario native made his Major League Lacrosse debut on May 18th against the Chesapeake Bayhawks. Coates joined the Nats after being selected in the 2012 MLL Supplemental Draft.

In college, the 25-year-old played lacrosse at Division I Canisius College. In 2011, Coates earned All-MAAC honors for the first time in his career as he led the Golden Griffins with 52 ground balls, while placing second on the squad with 18 caused turnovers. As a senior, he led all MAAC defenders with 4.33 ground balls per game, while also adding two goals in his final season at Canisius.

Coates recently completed his rookie season in the National Lacrosse League with the Colorado Mammoth. The eighth overall pick notched 10 points (3+7) and finished second on the team with 94 loose balls in 16 games.
