National Pro Fastpitch Releases 2004 Schedule

DENVER â The National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) released its 2004 season schedule Tuesday, one that will feature a 56-game regular-season and subsequent postseason.
The league's 56-game regular-season begins on Tuesday, June 1 and concludes on Wednesday, August 18. Each of the NPF's eight teams will play 36 division games and 20 interleague contests. Regular-season games will be played in two and three-game stands, with series starting on various days throughout the week.
The eight-team will league will be split into two four-team divisions, with Colorado, San Antonio, Sacramento and Tucson being in the west. The Houston Thunder will play in the east alongside New England, NY/NJ and Akron.
The top two teams from each division during the regular-season will advance to the NPF Division Finals beginning on Aug. 20 for a best-of-three series. The winners of the Division Finals will face off in the NPF Championship Series beginning on Wednesday, Aug. 25. The 2004 NPF Championship Series will be a best-of-five series format. The Championship Series will be played at the homes of the two remaining teams.
The 2004 NPF season will also include an All-Star Game that will feature the best players from the East and West Divisions. The site of the game has yet to be determined.
National Pro Fastpitch is the only professional women's fastpitch softball league in the United States. The league is headquartered in Denver, and has been in operation since 1997 under the names Women's Pro Fastpitch (WPF) and Women's Pro Softball League (WPSL).
