The Outlaws would start the scoring off when early. Ryan Peltoma would score just 1:29 into the opening frame assisted by Jack Paul and Travis Pekskamp.
Then at the 3:00 mark of the period it was Brandon Brodhag lighting the lamp on the powerplay assists going to Joseph Harcharik and Dan Durham to make it 2-0. Neither team would score the rest of the period as the Outlaws took the lead into the break.
The Outlaws got the scoring started in the second at 3:19 as Brandon Brodhag would score, assists going to Harcharik and Durham to make it 3-0 Outlaws.
But the Thunder would answer with a goal of their own at the 13:58 mark of the period as Thunder captain Danny Wood found the back of the net assisted by BJ McClellan and Zach Lewis to make it 3-1 Outlaws. That is where the period would end.
In the third period North Iowa would make it 4-1 on a goal by Dan Durham assisted by Brandon Brodhag and Joseph Harcharik. Then the Outlaws would add another to make it 5-1 when Brandon Brodhag would score and complete the hat trick, Jon Crouse and Joseph Harcharik would add helpers on the goal. That is how it would end. Outlaws 5 Thunder 1. The Outlaws outshot the Thunder
40-27 in the game.
On Saturday night Jimmie Perkins would get the scoring started at 2:04 of the first on a goal assisted by Chris Cass and Nick Grams to make it 1-0 Thunder. But that lead would be short lived. The Outlaws would answer back at the 17:30 mark of the period on a goal from Travis Pekskamp assisted by Jack Paul and Alex Carlson. The period would end in a 1-1 tie. Both goals of the frame were scored on the powerplay.
In the second the Outlaws Alex Carlson would make it 2-0 at 3:52 assists going to Bryce Wilcox and Travis Pekskamp. Then Joseph Harcharik would make it 3-1 Outlaws with a single helper going to Ryan Peltoma at 10:02. Then at
13:19 Peltoma would get a goal of his own to make it 4-1 Outlaws with assists going to Joseph Harcharik and Brandon Brodhag. These 3 goals were all on the powerplay as the Outlaws made sure to capitalize on the Thunder's penalties. But at 14:02 Rob Johnson would make it 5-0 assisted by Ben Danford and John O'Neil and at 14:50 AJ Knapp would make it 6-1 assisted by Alex Carlson. The Outlaws would add another goal to make it 7-1 when Jack Paul would score at 19:40 assisted by Joe Harren. The period would end with the Outlaws taking an impressive 7-1 lead to the dressing room.
Neither team would light the lamp in the third period as the Outlaws would skate to a 7-1 win. The Outlaws outshot the Thunder in the game 45-32 and were seemingly unstoppable on the powerplay.
In the third game of the weekend the Thunder would host the Owatonna Express. In a one sided game the Express peppered the Thunder net minder who made an impressive 55 saves but would let 7 goals in as the Express outshot the Thunder 62-21.
The Express got goals from 6 different players as Tim Smith, Stephan Carew, Michael Palmiscno, Cory Thorson and David Kurbatsky would each light the lamp once and Marian Fiala would get 2 goals in the game.
The Thunder will be on the road in Bismarck the 27th and 28th to close out the month of February. They will then be on the road in Springfield on the 6th and 7th of March before returning home on the 8th of March to host the North Iowa Outlaws. Game time for the game on Sunday March 8th will be 7:30pm.
