NAHL Announces 2010-11 Calendar Of Events

Published on March 4, 2010 under North American Hockey League (NAHL) News Release

FRISCO, TEXAS - The North American Hockey League (NAHL) has announced its calendar of events for the 2010-11 season.

The eighth annual Sherwood/NAHL Showcase Tournament will be held from September 15-18, 2010 at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, Minn. Every NAHL team will play four regular-season games at the event, which is widely considered the top scouting festival for college and professional teams.

The NAHL will host its first of two Sherwood/NAHL Top Prospects Tournament events from December 5-7, 2010 at the Iorio Ice Arena in Walpole, Mass. The rosters will consist of elite NAHL players both committed and not yet committed to Division I schools, as well as those recognized on the NHL Central Scouting Bureau's fall "Players to Watch" list for 2011 draft-eligibles.

The second Sherwood/NAHL Top Prospects Tournament will be held from February 13-15, 2011 at the Ice Cube in Ann Arbor, Mich., home of the USA Hockey National Team Development Program. The rosters for this Top Prospects event will consist of players not yet committed to Division I programs.

Close to 30 players who participated in the 2009 Sherwood/Top Prospects Tournament earned scholarships to Division I schools following the event. Five players who competed in this year's Top Prospects Tournament, which was held in Ann Arbor in January, have already committed to Division I programs.

The dates and location of the 2011 Robertson Cup Championship Tournament, which crowns the NAHL's playoff champion and also represents USA Hockey's Tier II Junior A national champion, will be announced in the coming months.

The North American Hockey League, the only USA Hockey-sanctioned Tier II Junior A league boasting 24 teams from across the country, prides itself on the social maturity and skill development of student-athletes ages 16-20 with aspirations of advancing to collegiate and/or professional hockey.
