MVP Anderson Returns To Millrats

The Manchester Millrats are pleased to announce the return of former league MVP Anthony Anderson to the team.

As a Millrat in 2007-2008, Anderson was named the 3rd Best Minor Leaguer in the Country by ProBasketballNews.Com, was named the Most Valuable Player of the league, as well the MVP of the All Star Game. Since 2008 he has worked out for the Indiana Pacers, and has played professionally in Cyprus and Poland.

In 2007-2008, Anderson averaged 23.7 points, 5.1 assists, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.6 steals per game while shooting 67% from the floor and 49% from the three point arc.

Anderson, combined with PBL Co-Defensive Player of the Year Al Stewart, and UNH alum Eric Gilchrese, give the Millrats one of the most capable point guard corps in the Premier Basketball League.

"We are escstatic to have Anthony back with the Millrats. He is super-talented as well as unselfish and a great teammate and competitor" stated Millrats GM Ian McCarthy. "And I know our fans will welcome him back with open arms."

Anderson was a four year starter for the UMass Minutemen in college (2001-2005) and hails from nearby Lynn, MA. He was the subject of a SLAM Magazine Online article this past summer (SLAM Online Article).

The Manchester Millrats open the regular season of the 2010 Premier Basketball League by hosting the Vermont Frost Heaves on Sunday January 3rd, 2010 at 4:05 PM in the Fieldhouse on the campus of Southern New Hampshire University.

Tickets are on sale at www.millrats.com or at the door. Doors open 1 hour prior to tip off.

Admission is just $10 for adults and $5 for kids 17 and under. VIP courtside chairs are available for $17, and courtside tables (6 chairs included) are $100. This Sunday is 'Youth Basketball Day' and youth basketball teams wearing their team jerseys will be admitted for just $3 each.

The Millrats defeated the Frost Heaves 138-116 on Tuesday evening in Barre, Vermont to capture the Champlain Cup Preseason Tournament. The two franchises have been fierce rivals since 2007 and have met 16 times, with Manchester claiming victory in 11 of the games to date.
