Published on May 4, 2006 under Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) News Release

The Great Lakes Indoor Football League is excited to announce its first expansion franchise for the 2007 season. The Muskegon Thunder will play six home games at L.C. Walker Arena in downtown Muskegon beginning in April of 2007. The franchise is owned by Don, Julie, and Adam Pringle, all of which are from the Muskegon area. As such, the team plans to become heavily involved with the Muskegon community and surrounding communities.

The GLIFL is excited to have the Pringle family involved with the league. "The Pringles epitomize what the GLIFL stands for," said league co-founder Jeff Spitaleri. "We intend to offer affordable family entertainment, and the Thunder plan to do just that." Thunder tickets are tentatively priced between $9-16, with group rates and senior rates as low as $6 for some sections. The Thunder are Michigan's third GLIFL team, which will help create even better local rivalries. The league is actively involved in trying to bridge gaps between existing GLIFL teams, in order to reduce travel costs and in order to create exciting regional rivalries for fans to enjoy.

We are pleased to announce the Muskegon Thunder, a professional indoor football team. The team will play at the L.C. Walker Arena & Conference Center in downtown Muskegon. The inaugural season will start in April 2007, with a 12-game schedule. Don, Julia, and Adam Pringle are the team owners who will be introducing the Thunder to the Lakeshore.

The Muskegon Thunder will be playing in the GLIFL. The league consists of six teams stretching from Pennsylvania to Michigan. Muskegon is the GLIFL's first expansion team. The GLIFL is currently three games into its inaugural season. The league plans to expand to a total 12 teams for the 2007 season.

West Michigan has always had a strong football tradition, and we believe the timing is right for professional indoor football to come to the Lakeshore. The Muskegon area has a strong fan base on which we hope to build. Our goal is to provide an exciting and affordable professional sporting event in a family-oriented atmosphere. We expect to attract families within 40 miles of the arena.

The Muskegon Thunder will provide an exciting brand of entertainment that can be enjoyed by all ages. Now is the time for professional indoor football on the Lakeshore. We are excited about being a part of a new brand of entertainment, and the revitalization of downtown Muskegon.
