
Mudbugs Take Inaugural SIFL Game

AUSTIN, Texas (April 18, 2009) -- Bo Bartik threw three of his four touchdowns to Jermaine Martin, and Kemmie Lewis' three interceptions helped the Acadiana Mudbugs take an early 20-0 lead en route to a 37-29 victory over the Austin Turfcats in the inaugural game of the Southern Indoor Football League Saturday night before 1,682 at the Expo Center.
Bartik finished 15 of 25 for 197 yards, while Martin had six catches for 76 yards, including touchdowns of 20, 20 and 14 yards.
One of Lewis' three picks went for a second quarter touchdown that gave the Mudbugs a 20-0 lead with 13:18 remaining in the first half. Austin used Darrick Wallace return touchdowns to rally back to within 30-29 on Wallace's 58-yard missed field goal with 4:45 left. The Mudbugs regained an eight-point cushion on Bartik's 14-yard to Martin with 1:37 left and got a defensive stop to preserve the victory.
Martin, Lewis, and Wallace were named the game's offensive, defensive and special teams MVPs, respectively.
