Moye-Moore Named Week 15 National Guard Community MVP

June 15, 2012 - Arena Football League (AFL) News Release

CHICAGO -Orlando Predators LB MARLON MOYE-MOORE has been named National Guard Community MVP of the Week for his recent philanthropic efforts.

Moye-Moore (6-1, 290, Maryland) is in his eighth season in the AFL and has spent his entire career with the Orlando Predators.

On Sunday, June 10, Moye-Moore served as the moderator for the NFL High School Development Program. The program is a camp for both high school football players and coaches. The camp teams up with coaches around the area, as well as the National Guard, to address the challenges facing high school football programs across the country. With the help of 18 of his teammates, Moye-Moore organized talking points for a presentation during the camp.

"I jumped at the opportunity when it came because I knew I could help somebody with my words," Moye-Moore said. "I knew how I could present it in a way that would keep their attention."

Moye-Moore addressed the students on all of the steps necessary to continue playing football at the college level and beyond, including athletic dedication, working with the National Clearinghouse and living up to the expectations of student-athletes.

"It's more than just being a good athlete," Moye-Moore said. "It's about presenting yourself as a gentleman in front of people."

He has been doing speaking engagements in the Orlando area for students since 2006 and believes that reaching out and motivating children is his calling.

"I have a plan that I usually give the kids," Moye-Moore said. "It has three different areas of life in it; spiritual, athletic and academic. If you can stay balanced in all three of those areas, you will be successful."

A student recently came up to him at the end of one of his speaking engagements to ask for more advice on how to reach the next level.

"Out of the hundreds of kids that were out there, if I had one person who I turned down the right path, it was worth it and I did my job that day," Moye-Moore said.

The Orlando Predators (1-11) will host the rival Tampa Bay Storm (6-6) in the 50th installment of the "War on I-4" tonight at 8:00 pm ET.

The National Guard Community MVP is awarded to one player each week in recognition of their commitment to community service. Following the 2012 season, players will be voted on by fans to become the National Guard Community MVP of the Year.
