(Westport, CT â March 14, 2003) â Major Indoor Soccer League Commissioner Steve Ryan announced today that the "Commissioner's Dinner Benefiting Keith's Kids" on Friday, March 7, raised over $100,000 for charities in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area. The event, held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, was sold out and honored Keith Tozer, head coach of the Milwaukee Wave of the MISL.
The charities included the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the MACC Fund (Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer), the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the March of Dimes. These organizations are among many that Milwaukee Wave coach Keith Tozer works with and are under the umbrella of "Keith's Kids". Tozer's involvement in the community is an example of his commitment of the children of Milwaukee. Each charity will receive an equal amount of the proceeds. "Last Friday has to be one of the most rewarding nights that I can remember." Said Tozer, "To honor the all-star players and coaches and at the same time raise not only awareness for the childhood charities, but to surpass $100,000 in doing so is truly remarkable"
This event had over 700 guests in attendance including all of the 2003 MISL All-Star Players, the MISL Legends, the Milwaukee Wave Legends, and many dignitaries including Milwaukee's mayor, John O. Norquist, and Milwaukee County Executive, Scott Walker.
The spokesman for "Keith's Kids" was 16 year old Jeremy Anderson who is afflicted with Cerebral Palsy. Jeremy inspired the audience by relating the personal influence Keith Tozer and his charities have had on his life. MISL Commissioner Steve Ryan announced that Jeremy would be the 2003 All-Star Game Honorary Ball Boy.
Commissioner Ryan stated "One of the highlights of the All-Star Weekend was the opportunity for the MISL to raise significant funds for "Keith's Kids" and to participate in an emotional and fun-filled tribute to coach Keith Tozer and the All-Star players". "Milwaukee again has distinguished itself as a great MISL city".
