Fresno, Calif. - MONSTERS WEEKLY is a weekly review of everything Monsters Hockey: weekend game recap, player and goalie stats, player spotlight, and upcoming events.

The NAHL Monsters will be idle this weekend while the WSHL Monsters hit the road for a three-game series with the Long Beach Bombers. The Monsters will play Friday and Saturday at 7:45pm and Sunday at 1:00pm at Glacial Garden Ice Arena. Both Monsters' teams return to Selland Arena on Friday and Saturday, February 17th and 18th with double-headers at 3:30pm and 7:35pm.

$7 tickets (+ tax) are available for the rest of the regular season and are on sale now at the Selland Arena box office and all Ticketmaster locations. Groups of 20 people get tickets for $130. NAHL Fresno Monsters vs. Texas Tornado@ Dr Pepper Arena - Frisco, TX

Fri., 1/27/12 - Tornado 6, Monsters 2:

The Fresno Monsters' 3rd period comeback attempt fell short as the Texas Tornado defeated the Monsters by a final score of 6-2 at the Dr. Pepper Arena in Frisco, Texas.

NAHL Fresno Monsters vs. Amarillo Bulls@ Amarillo Civic Center - Amarillo, TX

Sat., 1/28/12 - Bulls 7, Monsters 1:

After a scoreless first period, the NAHL's 1st place team, Amarillo Bulls opened up the game to go on and beat the Monsters by a score of 7-1. There were 102 penalty minutes assigned during the 2nd period alone, 134 minutes for the entire game.

NAHL Fresno Monsters vs. Odessa Jackalopes

Ector County Coliseum - Odessa, TX

Fri., 2/3/12 - Monsters 4, Jackalopes 3:

The Fresno Monsters defeated the Odessa Jackalopes in regulation on Friday by a final score of 4-3. The Monsters scored a power play goal and a shorthanded goal in the contest.

Sat., 2/4/12 - Jackalopes 1, Monsters 0 (shootout loss):

In a defensive battle, the Fresno Monsters and the Odessa Jackalopes couldn't find the back of the net in 60 minutes of regulation or in the extra 5-minute overtime period. In the 5-round shootout, the Jackalopes were victorious with two successful shooters to Fresno's one shootout goal.

NAHL PLAYER SPOTLIGHT

BRENDAN BRADLEY: Bradley is riding a 10-game, 13-point streak dating back to January 7th. He had an assist Friday against the Texas Tornado and an assist Saturday against the Amarillo Bulls. Bradley was invited to attend the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament on Feb. 20-22 in Troy, MI.TOMAS SHOLL: Sholl recorded his 1st shutout of the season on Saturday, stopping 28 shots by the Odessa Jackalopes. He is tied for 7th in the league with a save percentage of .922 and ranked 8th in the league in goals against average with 2.23 in 25 games for the Fresno Monsters. He was selected to play in the Top Prospects Tournament for the 18U Selects.

RILEY BORER: Borer is second on the team in scoring with 28 points. He scored an unassisted goal against the Texas Tornado. He also scored a shorthanded goal against the Odessa Jackalopes, helping lead the way to a Monsters' 4-3 victory.

WSHL WEEKEND RECAP

WSHL Monsters vs. Arizona Redhawks Polar Ice - Peoria; Peoria, AZ

Friday, 1/27/2012 - Monsters 3, Redhawks 0:The Fresno Monsters shutout the Arizona Redhawks by a score of 3-0. The teams combined for a total of 85 penalty minutes on the evening.

Saturday, 1/28/2012 - Monsters 6, Redhawks 1: The Fresno Monsters took care of business against the Arizona Redhawks for the second-straight game, this time by a final score of 6-1. The Monsters' power play unit was solid, scoring on 3-of-5 chances.

Sunday, 1/29/2012 - Monsters 9, Redhawks 1:The Fresno Monsters scored three goals in each period of action on Sunday, going on to defeat the Arizona Redhawks by a score of 9-1. Three goals were scored while Fresno was shorthanded, and another was a power play goal.

WSHL PLAYER SPOTLIGHT

JOSIAH NIKKEL: Nikkel had a seven-point weekend against the Arizona Redhawks. On Saturday he had a power play goal and an assist. Sunday he scored two goals and added three assists.

DON COYLE: Coyle also had a seven-point weekend against the Arizona Redhawks. Saturday he recorded a power play goal and two assists. Sunday he notched two shorthanded goals and two assists to lead the team to a series sweep.

TOM McGUCKIN: McGuckin recorded his first shutout of the season on Friday, blanking the Arizona Redhawks on all 18 shots on goal including 7 power play chances. Sunday he stopped 23 of 24 shots on net. The only goal that McGuckin allowed was a power play goal in which the Monsters were down two skaters, 5-on-3.
