Fresno, Calif. - MONSTERS WEEKLY is a weekly review of everything Monsters Hockey: weekend game recap, player and goalie stats, player spotlight, and upcoming events.
The NAHL Monsters split the series with the Wenatchee Wild last weekend, and now both teams are tied for third place in the West Division with 38 points. The Monsters will host the Alaska Avalanche this weekend for a three-game series at Selland Arena on Friday and Saturday at 7:35pm and Sunday at 7:05pm. Saturday night is Relay at the Rink with an NAHL post-game jersey auction to benefit American Cancer Society.
The WSHL Monsters are back in action for the first time in the new year, taking on the Long Beach Bombers this weekend in a three-game set at Selland Arena. The WSHL Monsters play on Friday and Saturday at 3:30pm and Sunday at 3:05pm. One ticket is good for both the WSHL and NAHL game each day at Selland Arena on days of double-header games.

NAHL Fresno Monsters vs. Wenatchee Wild

Fri., 1/6/2012 - Wild 3, Monsters 1:
The Fresno Monsters fell to the Wenatchee Wild on Friday by a final score of 3-1. Wenatchee outshot Fresno 24-21. This was the Monsters' first regulation loss to the Wild this season.
Sat., 1/7/2012 - Monsters 3, Wild 1:
The Monsters finished the two-game series with the Wenatchee Wild on a winning note with a final score of 3-1. Both teams are tied with 38 points in the standings and third place in the West Division.
NAHL PLAYER SPOTLIGHT
TOMAS SHOLL: Sholl was solid between the pipes on Saturday for the Monsters. He stopped 33 of 34 shots on goal by the Wenatchee Wild, good for a .971 save percentage on the night. He also held Wenatchee scoreless on all 7 power play chances. He was awarded #1 star of the game for his efforts.
RILEY BORER: Borer is tied for the team-leading high of 11 goals this season for the Monsters. Saturday he scored the game-winning goal against the Wenatchee Wild, earning him the 2nd star of the game honors.
PETR MAINER: Mainer was a huge factor in Saturday's victory over the Wenatchee Wild. Mainer assisted on the first goal of the game and the game-winning goal. He is averaging almost 1 point per game since joining the Monsters in mid-December.
