NAHL Monsters @ Kenai River Brown BearsSoldotna Sports Center - Soldotna, Alaska
Friday, 10/7/2011 - Brown Bears 5, Monsters 4 (OVERTIME): The story of this game for the Monsters was the power play. Fresno capitalized on all 4 power play chances in the game, but the team fell short in overtime to the Kenai River Brown Bears. The Monsters were still awarded 1 point in the standings.
Saturday, 10/8/2011 - Brown Bears 2, Monsters 1 (SHOOTOUT): Fresno was outstanding yet again on the power play on Saturday, going 1-for-3 on the power play. The game was tied 1-1 at the end of regulation, and again at the end of the 5 minute overtime period to force a shootout. After 8 rounds in the shootout, the Monsters fell short again in extra time, earning another point in the standings.
Sunday, 10/9/2011 - Monsters 4, Brown Bears 2:
Fresno was finally able to solve the Brown Bears in regulation, defeating Kenai River by a final score of 4-2 to close out the three-game series on a winning note. Fresno completed the series with a 1-0-2 record to improve to 7-0-2, good for 16 points. The Monsters are still undefeated in regulation so far this season.
NAHL PLAYER SPOTLIGHT
KYLE SUCHER: Sucher was a huge factor on the blue line and on the scoresheet for the Monsters this weekend in Alaska against Kenai River Brown Bears. Friday he notched a power play goal and an assist on the power play, and he tallied another power play goal in each game on Saturday and Sunday, totaling 3 goals and 1 assist for the weekend.
BRENDAN BRADLEY: Bradley had a strong showing for the Monsters this weekend against the Kenai River Brown Bears. He recorded 3 assists on the power play on Friday night and added another assist on the power play on Sunday. Over the course of the weekend, Bradley tallied 4 assists for the Monsters.
MIK BUSHINSKI: Bushinski was impressive on Sunday in Alaska against the Kenai River Brown Bears. He had an old-fashioned "Gordie Howe Hat Trick," contributing with a goal, an assist, and a fight all in the same game. For his efforts, Bushinski was awarded the #1 star of the game by the off-ice officials, the only Monster to earn the nod as one of the three stars of the game in the weekend series.
