Mongolian Basketball Association welcomes ABA

May 2, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association today announced that it had received a welcome letter for the forthcoming visit to Mongolia from Tsend Munn Orgil, MP - the President of the Mongolian Basketball Association and Foreign Minister of Mongolia. In a letter written to Ricardo Richardson, ABA EVP, Mr. Orgil said, "We welcome you and your team to Mongolia. The Mongolian Basketball Association (MBA) is working with the Delpil Group to make your trip a success. We are confident that the three exhibition games would become highlights in the sport calendar of the forthcoming summer in Ulaanbaatar."

Earlier this spring, the ABA announced that the ABA Kentucky Colonels were invited to send a team to Mongolia to play a series of exhibition games as well as conduct clinics for kids and adults. The plan was put together by Nadmid Tsevegsuren, CEO and co-founder of Delpil Group in Mongolia, a company also planning to market licensed ABA products to the citizens of Mongolia. This is one phase of the ABA's international inititative. According to Richardson, "Everyone involved with this project is very exciting and has been very impressed with the way this has been put together by Nadmid. The players and coaches are preparing basketball clinics and summer basketball camps - and should really represent the US well. We also received a nice email from the Public Affairs Officer at the US Embassy, Scott Weinhold. It will be very exciting indeed and we'll keep you posted on the progress."

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
