MLL Donates Title Tickets
August 14, 2003 - Major League Lacrosse (MLL) News Release
Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier outdoor professional lacrosse league, makes a generous donation to The Philadelphia Lacrosse Association for Youth (P.L.A.Y.), the official inner city Philadelphia lacrosse program. The MLL has donated championship game tickets to P.L.A.Y participants so they can attend the 2003 MLL Championship Game at Villanova Stadium on August 24 at 4 p.m.
"This generous gift will enable Philadelphia inner-city youth to experience the great dedication of Major League Lacrosse and Comcast-Spectacor to the sport and to their future, " says David Mayberry, the founder and president of the Philadelphia Lacrosse Association for Youth (P.L.A.Y.). "P.L.A.Y boys and girls, who have been developing lacrosse and life skills over the summer, will feel the spirit of lacrosse come alive when they see it played for the first time."
In conjunction with MLL Championship Weekend, the MLL Championship trophy tour made a special stop at two P.L.A.Y clinic locations. The trophy tour stopped at lacrosse clinics at the Methodist Services for Children and Families and the Julia De Burgos Bilingual Middle School. Children at both of these locations got to get their photo taken with the MLL Championship Trophy (see attached photo).
Individual tickets are $18 for adults and $15 for kids for admittance to both semi-final games on August 22 and $22 for adults and $20 for kids for the championship game on August 24. Tickets can be purchased at the Wachovia Complex Box Offices and all Ticketmaster locations. Fans can receive great discounts for both games buy purchasing an MLL Championship Weekend ticket package. The package, which is $36 for adults and $30 for kids 12 and under, includes both Friday semi-final games and Sunday's Championship Game. Game strips can be purchased by calling 215-389-WINGS (9464) or at Ticketmaster.
The Philadelphia Lacrosse Association for Youth (P.L.A.Y) is a non-profit, multicultural youth sports league that uses the Native American sport of lacrosse to promote multicultural understanding and citywide unity. In the first undertaking of its kind, PLAY seeks to ensure that all inner-city youth can actively participate in an inspiring youth sports landscape that focuses on educational and cultural enrichment.
