Boston, MA - The MLL career of Mark Millon was one of the best in the league's history as he achieved a variety of accolades and milestones throughout his eight seasons in the MLL. Millon finished as one of the best players to play in the league and remains to be a prominent figure in the lacrosse community.
In what was an impressive career, Millon was able to pile up a total of 360 points with 240 goals, four 2pt goals and 116 assists for a total of 360 points in 83 games played and would go down as one of the best offensive threats to have been in the league. He entered the MLL in its inaugural year in 2001 with the Baltimore Bayhawks and played there for four seasons putting up a total of 249 points (168 goals, 81 assists) in 51 games played.
After his 2004 season with the Bayhawks where he put up 61 points (38 goals, 4 2pt goals, 19 assists), Millon was traded to the Cannons where he would spend the 2005 season before returning to the Bayhawks in 2006. The lacrosse star left the league as the all-time leading scorer when he retired in 2007 and was inducted into the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2009. After being out of the league for five years, Millon returned for the 2013 season and was drafted first overall in the MLL Supplemental Draft by the Rochester Rattlers.
In his eight year career, Millon was able to pile up a variety of accolades including winning Co-MVP alongside Gary Gait of the Baltimore Blackhawks in 2005. He was also named the Offensive Player of the Year in 2002 and 2003 and won the 2002 MLL Championship MVP with the Bayhawks.
"The eight years I spent in the league were some of the best of my career," Millon said. "The level of competition, the comradery and the passion is what I always carry with me. The Championships, the accolades and the records were all great, but the friendships, the people and the opportunity MLL gave us to play are what I will always value most."
Millon continues to contribute to the lacrosse community as he founded the Millon Summer Lacrosse Camps which have had over 28,500 boys attend from all over the U.S. The camps have been set up with the intent of focusing on the key individual fundamentals and give the young lacrosse athletes building blocks to success.
His success on the lacrosse field started before his time with the MLL though as he was a two-time First Team All-American at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He was also a two time Team USA member and World Champion in 1994 and 1998 and was named the MVP of the 2014 World Championship Games.
Millon has been able to have a positive impact on the game of lacrosse and the league during his time as a player and after. His commitment and love for lacrosse has been demonstrated since he first came into the league and will continue to be a prominent figure in the lacrosse community for the foreseeable future.
