Miye D'Oench Returns to Isobel Cup Champions

Miye D'Oench, the outstanding forward for the Metropolitan Riveters who assisted on Alexa Gruschow's game-winning goal in the Isobel Cup Final, has re-signed with the club for the upcoming season.
"I can't wait to get back to Barnabas to defend our Cup in front of the best fans in the league," said D'Oench, who will be entering her third pro season.
Last season, the 5-4 forward had 7 goals and 6 assists for 13 points in 9 games. After returning from an injury, D'Oench had two assists in the playoffs to help lead the Riveters to the Isobel Cup. In her rookie NWHL season with the Riveters in 2016-17, she was 5-9-14 in 18 games.
"From NHL partnerships to the expansion to Minnesota, the league has taken huge strides in the past year," said D'Oench. "It's inspiring to see the momentum women's hockey has earned on the international stage as well, and shout out to the incredible performance the athletes gave in that gold medal game. It's an amazing time to be a part of this sport. I'm so excited to return to the Riveters this coming season."
D'Oench was part of the U.S Women's National U-18 team that captured silver in 2012. She played in 135 games in four years at Harvard and had 64 goals and 58 assists for 122 points. As a senior, she was named All-Ivy League second team and All-ECAC Hockey second team. A native of New York, D'Oench developed as a player with the mid-Fairfield Stars and in the New Jersey Rockets program before attending Harvard.
The Riveters have also signed Chelsea Ziadie, a 5-3 defender who recently finished her collegiate career at Harvard, playing 102 games between 2014-2018. A Quebec native, she played at the Hotchkiss School in Connecticut prior to Harvard. In an essay she wrote for the Harvard Athletics website during her senior year, she concluded, "The character and work ethic that I have developed as a student-athlete at Harvard will allow me to be successful in the face of the rigors and challenges of my future endeavors, and for that I will forever be grateful."
"I'm incredibly excited to begin my professional hockey career with the Riveters," said Ziadie, who works for Morgan Stanley in Manhattan. "I feel extremely lucky to have the opportunity to join such a talented team and successful organization."
