Dallas Sidekicks at Baltimore Blast
1st Mariner Arena, 7:35 p.m. ET
Fresh off a School Day victory on Wednesday afternoon, the Sidekicks head east to face the Blast for the first time this season. Baltimore went 4-1 against the Sidekicks last season.

Cleveland Force at San Diego Sockers
San Diego Sports Arena, 7:00 p.m. PT
The Force opened its season on Sunday with a thrilling 6-5 win over Dallas. For the Sockers to achieve their first win of 2003-04, they will have to do something they did not do in 2002-03: beat Cleveland. The Force went 5-0 against San Diego a season ago.

Kansas City Comets at St. Louis Steamers
Family Arena, 7:05 p.m. CT
St. Louis captured a 7-2 win over the Comets in Kansas City's home opener on October 11. Kansas City can return the favor on Saturday, as St. Louis opens the home portion of their 2003-04 schedule. A reunion game featuring legends of the original Steamers will take place at halftime.

Carlos "Chile" Farias also scored a pair of goals in his Blast debut. Lee Tschantret led all scorers with a goal and two assists for three points.

Notes: Chris Morman blocked five shots and scored two goals, including the game-winner at 2:30 of the fourth, as the Wave improved to 2-0 on the season in this rematch of last year's Championship Finals. Morman was named the MISL's Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts. Nick Vorberg earned Goalkeeper of the Week honors after saving 15 of 20 shots, including nine of 10 shots in the second half as the Wave overcame a 5-4 third-quarter deficit. Denison Cabral and David Bascome both scored two points (goal, assist) for Baltimore. Troy Dusosky added two goals for the Wave, and Michael King assisted on three scores.

Miodrag Djerisilo recorded four assists for Kansas City, and defender Jeff Davis blocked eight shots. Notes: Lee Edgerton scored the game-winning goal at 11:30 of the fourth quarter as the Force overcame a 4-2 halftime deficit to capture the victory. Edgerton's goal was his second of the game. Martin Dugas (goal, two assists) and Martin Nash (goal) enjoyed productive Sidekicks debuts, and Adauto Neto (goal, two assists) and Ato Leone (goal, assist) were effective in their first games for Cleveland. Force goalkeeper Jim Larkin allowed only one goal in the second half, to Beau Brown at 7:04 of the fourth. Dallas' David Doyle played in the 500th game of his remarkable indoor career.

Notes: Philadelphia pulled within 5-4 with a goal early in the fourth quarter, but the Sidekicks scored the final three goals of the game to record an 8-4 win in front of a School Day crowd of 8,651 fans at Reunion Arena on Wednesday afternoon. Beau Brown's tally at 1:32 of the fourth stood as the game-winner; Brown finished with a pair of scores. Dallas goalkeeper Sagu made 14 saves. Shawn Boney scored twice for the KiXX, who lost their first game of the season.

Lee Tschantret (two goals, two assists) and Denison Cabral (three goals, assist) both scored four points in the two weekend games. David Bascome has scored a goal in each of his first three games with Baltimore. Goalkeeper Scott Hileman shut out the Steamers for the first 40 minutes of Friday's game. Edgerton finished the game with a pair of scores. Newcomers Adauto Neto (goal, two assists) and Ato Leone (goal, assist) made immediate impacts. Hector Marinaro marked his return to the defensive backfield with an assist and two blocks in the contest. Jim Larkin saved nine of 14 shots, and allowed only one goal in the second half. The Force travels to San Diego this Friday, October 24, to face the Sockers; Cleveland was 5-0 versus San Diego in 2002-03. Cleveland then heads to Milwaukee on October 31 before opening their home schedule on Saturday, November 1, against the Wave.

Notes: The KiXX fell 8-4 in a School Day Game in Dallas on Wednesday afternoon. Philadelphia pulled to within 5-4 in the fourth quarter but allowed the final three goals of the game. Shawn Boney scored his first two goals of the season, and Kevin Sloan and Pat Morris also found the net. Goran Vasic remained perhaps the hottest playmaker in the MISL with two assists, giving him seven through three games. Peter Pappas was hit with the loss in goal, making 11 saves. Philadelphia now has off until Saturday, November 1, when the KiXX host the Baltimore Blast (7:05 p.m. Eastern).

Dino Delevski added three goals, and Miodrag Djerisilo assisted on four scores. Djerisilo is now tied for third in the League with six points. Defender Jeff Davis blocked eight shots against Monterrey to give him a League-leading 10 rejections on the season. The Comets begin a four-game road trip this weekend when they head to St. Louis to face the Steamers (7:05 p.m. CT); St. Louis defeated Kansas City 7-4 in the Comets' home opener on October 11.

Milwaukee has off this week, and returns to action on Friday, October 31, when the Cleveland Force comes to town for a 7:00 p.m. CT kickoff.

Lopez is now second in the MISL with seven points and is tied for the League lead with six assists. Monterrey has the weekend off, and resumes play on Friday, October 31, with a contest in San Diego (7:00 p.m. PT). The Fury's first home game at the brand new Monterrey Arena is slated for Sunday, November 30, against Dallas at 6:35 p.m. Central.

Notes: The Sockers had last weekend off, and host the Cleveland Force this Friday, October 24, at 7:00 p.m. PT. San Diego went 0-5 against the Force in 2002-03. Forward Mark Ughy has accounted for four of San Diego's five goals this season. The team will complete its season-opening four-game home stand with this Friday's contest and a game against the Monterrey Fury on October 31; the Sockers will play their first road game on Saturday, November 1, in Dallas.


LEAGUE NOTES

- The Milwaukee Wave's home game against the San Diego Sockers originally scheduled for March 28 at 1:00 p.m. Central has been re-scheduled for March 25 at 7:00 p.m. Central.

- The St. Louis Steamers will host a Reunion Game featuring greats from the original Steamers at halftime of Saturday's season opener against the Kansas City Comets (7:05 p.m. CT kickoff). Among the former Steamers stars who will be participating are Pat McBride (coach), Al Trost (coach), Steve Pecher, Slobo Illijeski, Tony Glavin, and Mark Frederickson. The current Steamers team will wear "retro" jerseys against the Comets; the jerseys will be auctioned off at a later date, with proceeds going to the Steamers Soccer Foundation.

- David Doyle of Dallas appeared in the 500th game of his indoor career on October 19 versus Cleveland.

- With Kansas City's 10-6 win over Monterrey on Saturday, Comets Head Coach Zoran Savic became only the second man in League history and the 10th in indoor soccer history with 200 regular season wins.

- On October 16, the Comets signed midfielder/defender Ryan DiNunzio to a contract. DiNunzio is the nephew of indoor greats Bobby and Mike DiNunzio, who combined for 263 goals, 345 assists, and 1,045 blocks in 766 games in this League.

- MISL attendance continues to hold strong. Through 11 openings, the League has drawn a total of 64,581 fans for an average of 5,871 per game.

AFTER THREE WEEKS, THE PLAYMAKERS LEAD THE WAY...

The MISL's playmakers continue to hold the early lead in the 2003-04 SPALDING Scoring Race. David Doyle of Dallas, who played in the 500th game of his indoor career on October 19, leads the League in both points (10) and assists (7), while fellow pass masters Marco Lopez of Monterrey (six assists), Goran Vasic of Philadelphia (six assists), and Miodrag Djerisilo (five assists) follow close behind. Also in the mix this week are Sidekicks Nick Stavrou (seven points) and Beau Brown (six points), and the Fury's Armando Valdivia (six points).
