GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Sanaldo, California Cougars, GK
Sanaldo, recently hobbled by a bothersome heel injury and a recovering left pinkie that was dislocated, made his return in front of the net against the Baltimore Blast this past Saturday night. The keeper saved eight of 10 shots faced against Baltimore. He played the entire game and earned his fifth win of the season as the Cougars defeated the Blast 7-4 at Stockton Arena. Sanaldo dominated the Blast offense by stopping almost every shot he saw. He used an array of dives and leaps to keep the potent Blast offense out of the goal. Five of Sanaldo's saves came in the second quarter; Baltimore took seven of their 19 total shots on goal in the second. He allowed just two goals in the game, and picks up his second victory over the Blast this year.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Genoni Martinez, La Raza de Monterrey, D
Martinez helped La Raza win a pair of contests in Week 9. In a 16-13 triumph over Baltimore at Arena Monterrey, the Team Captain recorded three blocks and also assisted on two scores. The League's only four-time Defender of the Year (since 1984-85) scored a two-point tally and assisted on another score to go along with his three blocks in a 14-10 win at Detroit. Over the two matches, Martinez totaled six blocks and five points.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Dino Delevski, La Raza de Monterrey, F
Delevski was an offensive force for Monterrey in their two victories in Week 9. The two-time MISL Most Valuable Player (2001-2003) scored a pair of two-point goals in a 16-13 win over Baltimore, including a power play goal, and followed up that performance with a hat trick and a block in a 14-10 victory in Detroit. Delevski's three-point tally at 11:34 of the third quarter in Detroit served as the eventual game-winning goal. For the week, Delevski managed 11 points (1 3G, 4 2G) and a block.
