GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK
Peter Pappas, Philadelphia KiXX
Peter Pappas recorded a .794 save percentage (31 saves on 39 shots) as Philadelphia split a home-and-home series with the first-place Milwaukee Wave. Pappas earned his 18th win of the season on Friday, stopping 15 of 18 shots in a 6-3 win. He also scored the second goal of his nine-year career with a full-field throw into an empty net at 12:31 of the fourth quarter. The KiXX fell 6-3 to the Wave the next night, though Pappas played well once again (16 saves on 21 shots). On the season, the 32-year-old netminder is second in the MISL in nearly every goalkeeping category, including goals against average (4.45), wins, minutes played (1,967), saves (424), and save percentage (.744). Pappas has now won five Goalkeeper of the Week Awards this season, more than any other MISL backstop. He was also the Goalkeeper of the Month for January.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Neil Gilbert, Cleveland Force
Neil Gilbert scored five points (two goals, three assists) and blocked three shots in three games last week. The 34-year-old defender registered a total of three points in a 4-3 win over Kansas City last Thursday and a 7-6 loss to Baltimore on Friday, then unleashed an excellent all-around effort in a 10-8 win over St. Louis on Sunday. The 6-0, 180-pounder recorded an assist, blocked three shots, and scored the game-winner at 3:59 of the fourth quarter against the Steamers. He also assisted on Aaron Susi's game-winner against the Comets on Thursday. Gilbert, who was acquired from Baltimore in late March, was also named Defensive Player of the Week (while with the Blast) on October 18.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Aaron Susi, Cleveland Force
Typically a finisher, Aaron Susi assumed the role of playmaker for Cleveland last week. The 6-4, 180-pound target man scored a goal and notched five assists in three games. He made his lone goal count, scoring the game-winner at 2:13 of the fourth quarter against Kansas City last Thursday. Susi registered an assist against Baltimore on Friday, then tallied three more helpers in Sunday's 10-8 victory over St. Louis. For good measure, Susi recorded three savesâincluding a stop on a Joe Reiniger shootout attemptâwhile starting goalkeeper Bayard Elfvin served a penalty in the fourth quarter. Susi has now scored 11 goals and 19 points in 13 games with Cleveland this season.
