MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (Wednesday, July 1st, 2015) -- Minnesota United today announced that midfielder Jonny Steele has been released from the remainder of his contract with the club. The decision was made jointly between United and Steele.

The Northern Ireland international appeared in 5 competitive matches for Minnesota, playing 328 minutes.

"I've personally enjoyed getting to know Jonny during his time here in Minnesota, but ultimately he and the club both agreed that the fit wasn't right and the best thing for both sides was to allow him to move on to his next opportunity," said United President Nick Rogers. "He's a talented footballer and we look forward to seeing him back on the pitch."

Minnesota United opens the 2015 NASL Fall Season at home July 11th against Ottawa Fury FC. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at National Sports Center Stadium - for tickets and information fans can call 763.4SOCCER and visit www.mnunitedfc.com/tickets.
