Minnesota Swarm Signs 11 Players

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Minnesota Swarm General Manager Marty O'Neill announced the National Lacrosse League (NLL) team has signed F Chad Culp, D Nick Inch and F Dan Marohl to two-year contracts and G Bruce Bickford, F Justin Haworth, F Marc Jackson, D Riley Kemp, F Tom Michaelsen, D Ricky Pages, F Andrew Watt and D Ross Zimmerman to one-year contracts.

Culp, 26 (2/5/82), scored 55 points (23-32=55) and added 14 PIM in 16 games for the Swarm last year. Over the past four seasons with Minnesota, the 5-foot-9, 175-pound native of Fergus, Ontario has played in 56 games, scoring 74 goals and adding 114 assists for 188 points.

Inch, 23 (12/20/84), recorded one assist, 10 penalty minutes and 20 loose balls in eight games during his rookie season with the Swarm in 2008. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound native of Kitchener, Ontario also appeared in Minnesota's 11-8 playoff loss to New York on May 3.

Marohl, 29 (3/30/79) scored five goals and added five assists for 10 points in five games with the Swarm after being acquired in a trade from Philadelphia on March 8. Over the past four seasons with Philadelphia and Minnesota, the 6-foot-1, 200-pound native of Annapolis, Maryland has played in 55 games, tallying 235 points (70-165=235) including 24 PPG and 68 PPA.

Bickford, 23 (8/24/85), went 13-4 with a 6.99 goals against average (GAA) and a .629 save percentage in 2008 for Drexel University. He was named the 2008 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Year and a USILA Honorable Mention All America ranking fifth in the nation in save percentage and ninth in GAA. The 5-foot-11, 195-pound native of Providence, Rhode Island was also named to the 2007 All-CAA First Team.

Haworth, 22 (6/9/86), notched 51 points (35-16=51) and 23 ground balls in 14 games for Limestone College in 2008 ranking third on the team in goals and points. The 6-foot, 205-pound native of Deer Park, New York was named to the 2008 USILA Division II All-American Team.

Jackson, 22 (3/4/86), was drafted by Minnesota in the second round (33rd overall) of the 2007 NLL Entry Draft. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound defenseman is a native of Oshawa, Ontario and was a member of the 2008 Swarm practice squad.

Kemp, 26 (4/19/82) has played in 43 games for the Swarm over the past four seasons and tallied 11 goals and 24 assists for 35 points. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound native of High River, Alberta missed the 2008 season due to injury.

Michaelsen, 23 (9/14/85), was named the St. John University MVP in 2008 after registering 24 points (11-13=24) in 11 contests during his senior campaign. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound native of Bethpage, New York was named to the 2007 All-ECAC Second Team and played in the USILA North/South Senior All-Star Game.

Pages, 21 (12/1/86), recorded six points (4-2=6) and 34 ground balls in 17 games in 2008 with the Ohio State Buckeyes. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound native of East Rockaway, New York was a member of the 2006 and 2007 All- Great Western Lacrosse League (GWLL) First Teams and was named to the 2008 All-GWLL Second Team.

Watt, 24 (1/9/84), led Robert Morris University in scoring for the fourth consecutive season in 2008 collecting 55 points (36-19=55) in 15 matches. The 6-foot-1, 207-pound native of Kitchener, Ontario was named to the CAA Second Team and ranked second in the conference in scoring and seventh in the NCAA.

Zimmerman, 22 (12/12/85), played in 58 games during his four year-career at the University of Notre Dame collecting one assist, 106 ground balls and made 45 starts. The 6-foot-2, 189-pound native of Utica, Michigan started in all 17 games his senior year and picked up a career high 39 ground balls.
