Minnesota Swarm News Release
SAINT PAUL, Minn. - The National Lacrosse League's (NLL) Minnesota Swarm recently signed F Josh Gillam to a one-year contract.
Gillam, 23, made his Swarm debut this past weekend on the road against the Buffalo Bandits and collected an assist and two loose balls. Minnesota selected the Peterborough, Ontario native in the second round (18th overall) of the 2010 NLL Entry Draft.
Gillam recorded 46 points (32g, 14a) and 28 ground balls in his four-year career at Dartmouth College from 2007-10. As a member of the Peterborough Lakers, Gillam has also won both a Mann Cup and a Minto Cup.
"Josh is just coming off playing professional hockey overseas in Europe. He's a guy that we've kept on our radar to make sure that we were able to do something when the opportunity came up," head coach and associate general manager Joe Sullivan said. "He brings lots of energy on the floor, has an incredible speed, and has great hands to play both inside and outside. He has the ability to get himself open in the inside game, which is something every team looks for."
Minnesota wraps up its four-game road trip this Sunday, March 25 against the Washington Stealth at 7 p.m. CT. The Swarm returns home to Treasure Island Field on Friday, March 30 at 7 p.m. for a showdown against the Calgary Roughnecks for Heroes Night at the Hive. The Swarm will be honoring local military members, veterans, police officers, firefighters and nurses throughout the night. Call 1-888-MN-SWARM or visit mnswarm.com to purchase tickets.
