Minnesota Swarm Re-Signs Forward John McClure

Saint Paul, Minn. - The National Lacrosse League's (NLL) Minnesota Swarm today re-signed F John McClure to a two-year contract. McClure, 24, was the Swarm's fifth round (45th overall) draft choice in 2010 and spent this past season on the practice squad.

"John has developed into a prominent player for the Brampton Excelsiors this summer," Swarm Assistant General Manager Joe Sullivan said. "Brampton gave him an opportunity to play after they lost some veteran players and he's filled a hole for them. He's scored some big goals over there and he's really becoming a big player in the MSL, which is great news for us. That means he's going to develop even quicker than we had thought. I believe he'll step right in and be a player with us this year and that's our intent. We're excited to have John signed and he's going to help us out on the right-hand side as well as add a ton of depth to our faceoff team."

The product of Dowling College has had an impressive campaign both scoring the ball and in the faceoff circle with the MSL's Brampton Excelsiors this summer. McClure led the Excelsiors in goals (28) and his 42 points (28g, 14a) ranked fifth on the team. In the faceoff circle, McClure posted a 57.4% winning percentage and his team-high 62 faceoff wins ranked third in the MSL. The native of Brampton, Ontario is also tied for a team-high three game-winning goals with Swarm teammate Kevin Ross.

In 2010, McClure finished his four-year career at Dowling College and earned USILA All-American honors after recording 66 points (58g, 8a) and 33 ground balls in 12 games.
