
Minnesota Swarm Owns Seven Picks in 2008 NLL Entry Draft to be held Sunday in Boston

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The National Lacrosse League's (NLL) Minnesota Swarm currently owns seven picks in the 2008 NLL Entry Draft. The expansion Boston Blazers will host this year's draft at TD Banknorth Garden on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 10:00 a.m. CDT.
The draft weekend will start with a daylong combine for the top prospects on Saturday, Sept. 6. Players will participate in drills and physical testing as well as a combine game for top prospects at 6:00 p.m. CDT. The game is free of charge and no advance tickets are necessary.
The Entry Draft will take place on Sunday, Sept. 7, at 10:00 a.m. CDT. A total of 76 players will be selected in the six-round draft. NLL clubs will be drafting the best young lacrosse talent from the NCAA and Canadian junior lacrosse programs. Tickets are free of charge, although, advance tickets will be required. The 2008 Entry Draft will be the first draft for the Swarm under the new ownership of John J. Arlotta. Seven overall picks ties the franchise record for most picks in the Entry Draft set last season. Of the Swarm's seven picks, three picks will come in the first round, the most in franchise history. Minnesota finished the 2008 season with a 10-6 record hosting its first-ever home playoff match.
