Minnesota Swarm Field Lacrosse Camp To Be Held Next Week

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The National Lacrosse League's (NLL) Minnesota Swarm announced today that Ryan Ward will hold two field lacrosse camps for youth lacrosse players at Corner Kick Indoor's outside lacrosse field. The first camp will be held next week starting on Monday, June 12 and include Swarm player Sean Pollock.

"Our goal is to provide a professional-level camp to take Minnesota lacrosse to the next level," said Ward. "We offer diverse instruction for all levels of players from beginners to advanced levels."

The first camp will be held June 12-15 for lacrosse player's ages 5-13 and costs $150. The second camp will be held July 28-31 for lacrosse players ages 14-18 and costs $265. Both camps will run daily from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM.

Daily Camp Schedule

9:30 - 10:00 AM Warm Up Games

10:00 - 10:45 AM Stick Skills

10:45 - 11:30 AM Shooting

11:30 - 12:00 PM Dodges/1-on-1

12:00 - 1:00 PM Lunch with Instructor's Demo

1:00 - 2:00 PM Team Concepts

2:00 - 2:30 PM Stations

2:30 - 3:30 PM Games

Camps will focus on improving skills in the following areas: Offensive Dodges, Shooting On The Run, Offensive and Defensive Strategies and Take Away Checks. The last day of each camp will feature a "Lacrosse Olympics" where participants will compete in several entertaining contests to win prizes including a lacrosse stick, Swarm gear and Reebok equipment. The "Camper of the Week" will win an autographed Swarm jersey and stick.

Ward has been playing lacrosse since the age of three. For the last 22 years, he has played in top leagues (both indoor and outdoor) across North America and has spent most of his free time coaching and instructing young kids in lacrosse. Ward recently completed his second season with the NLL's Minnesota Swarm and helped lead the club to its first-ever playoff appearance. He led the team in scoring with 66 points (19-47=66) in 16 regular season games and added a team-high five points (2-3=5) in a 11-10 loss at Buffalo in the East Division Semifinals on April 22.
