Minnesota Swarm News Release

EVERETT, Wash. - The National Lacrosse League's (NLL) Minnesota Swarm (3-6) fell on the road to the Washington Stealth (6-4) 11-8 Sunday night to even the division rivals series at one apiece this season. The Swarm were down 10-6 at one point in the quarter and were able to narrow the gap to just two after back-to-back goals by Shayne Jackson and Callum Crawford. The comeback fell short, however, after a Brett Bucktooth goal sealed the win for Washington.

In a low-scoring game that was highlighted by superb defense, the Swarm defensemen found a way to score as well. Assistant captain Jeff Gilbert and D Nik Bilic both found the back of the net for the first time this season on the night. Gilbert has had much success in Washington as of late, scoring his only two goals of 2012 at Comcast Arena last season.

Goaltenders Tyler Carlson of the Swarm and Tyler Richards of the Stealth were marvelous throughout the game. Carlson recorded 36 saves en route to a .766 save percentage while Richards saved 43 shots for a save percentage of .843.

Leading the Swarm in scoring was Crawford with three points (2g, 1a). Crawford is now the acting captain of the team after Andrew Suitor's season-ending injury.

Jordan MacIntosh filled up the stat sheet as usual, recording two points (1g, 1a) and scooping up a team-high 11 loose balls. The Oakville, Ontario native also takes the majority of the Swarm's face-offs and won 13 of 21 Sunday night.

Kiel Matisz and Shayne Jackson continued to make their cases for NLL Rookie of the Year consideration, each scoring a goal. Matisz has taken home NLL Rookie of the Week honors a league-high three times, while Jackson has also garnered the award.

Minnesota's next game will be at Calgary Friday, March 8 at 8 p.m. CT. The divisional clash can be seen on Swarm Vision at mnswarm.com.
