Saint John Riptide News Release

Manchester, NH: The Manchester Millrats seemed in control for two thirds of tonight's game versus the visiting Quebec Kebekwa. That feeling turned to disappointment when a frenetic Millrats fell short with .1 left on the clock, and Quebec left with a 112-110 victory.

The Kebs gave Manchester their first loss on the year back on November 18th in Canada, 132-110.

After leading by as many as 18 points in the third quarter, the Millrats found themselves down 109-98 with 3:41 left in the game. But Rashid Al-Kaleem rattled off four straight deep three pointers to cut the deduct to 111-110 with 34 seconds remaining.

After a free throw by Charles Fortier, a fifth Al-Kaleem deep bomb would not go down for the win. But PJ Young, active on the glass all night (6 offensive rebounds), atttempted a put back at the buzzer and was fouled. With .1 seconds left on the clock, Young missed the first free throw and the game was over.

Al-Kaleem led Manchester with 23 points, while Rob Sanders added 21 with 9 boards. Former SNHU star PJ Young posted his best game of the season with 18 points, 10 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 2 steals. Samuel Audet-Sow led Quebec with 27 points.

The loss drops #2 ranked Manchester to 12-3 on the season, while Quebec improves to 5-7.

The Millrats have to regroup tomorrow night as they face the Boston Blizzard at 7:05 pm at the Fieldhouse on the campus of SNHU.
