Saint John Riptide News Release

Manchester, New Hampshire: The Manchester Millrats are preparing for tomorrow's opening day Veteran's Camp at the Sportszone in Derry. Thirty one players will participate in the two day camp, which runs from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm on Friday and Saturday.

Sixteen players were chosen from the Millrats open tryout camp two weeks ago, and fifteen others accepted invitations to participate. Chris Burns from Merrimack, P.J. Young from Manchester, David Cooper from Goffstown, Will Hennegan from Nashua, and Mike Konovelcheck from Litchfield are the local New Hampshire players who made the first cut.

Also participating in the camp is 5'10 Jerome Holman aka "Circus" who earned his fame in 2006 by winning the $100,000.00 AND1 Streetball contract and John Harvey aka "Hi Octane" - an original member of the AND1 Streetball tour. Both "Circus" and "Hi Octane" are now members of the Ball4Real Streetball tour which entertained Manchester fans at the Verizon Wireless Arena back on August 15th. James Life, a 6'5 shooting guard, played last season for the UMass Minuteman as a teammate of Concord native Luke Bonner, the younger brother of the San Antonio Spurs' Matt Bonner.

"We think the talent in the group is very strong and we feel extremely fortunate to have this level of talent looking to play for the team," stated Millrats Principal Owner Jason Briggs.

Local fans and the media are invited to attend and watch the proceedings at the SportsZone. Following the camp, the coaches and staff will spend Sunday evaluating the videotapes and stats from the camp, and contracts will be extended to the final roster beginning on Monday.

The Millrats are a new entry in the American Basketball Association (ABA), and will play their home games in the 'Fieldhouse' on the campus of Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, NH. The season and home opener is set for Sunday November 11, 2007 at 4:35 p.m. versus the Boston Blizzard. Single game, season and half season ticket plans are on sale now on www.manchestermillrats.com or by calling 1-866-9-GET TIX (1-866-943-8849).

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
