Millrats Prepare For Blizzard

The Manchester Millrats are preparing for a Blizzard that is coming to the Fieldhouse of Southern New Hampshire University this Sunday. They are hoping that this Blizzard comes in cold!
The Blizzard are a new American Basketball Association expansion team out of Boston, Massachusetts. They defeated the Quebec Kebs 106-93 in their home opener last Saturday, and feature some familiar faces. Point guard Steve Hailey, shooting guard Jamaal Brooks, and forwards Eric Downie and Albert Hayle were all teammates of Millrat players Rob Sanders, Ismael Caro, Rashid Al-Kaleem, and Ife Anosike last season on the ABA's Cape Cod Frenzy. The Frenzy decided back in July to sit out the 2007-2008 season.
The Blizzard have considerable talent in the backcourt. Steve Hailey is a former Boston College Eagle, who played a role on the 2004-2005 B.C. team that began the season 20-0. Eric Downie is a division 3 All-American and two-time Little East Conference Player of the Year at nearby D3 hoops powerhouse, Salem State (MA). In addition, Brandon Odom, a 6'5 power forward played his college ball at in Durham at U.N.H.
The Millrats concluded their two week training camp yesterday at the Sportszone in Derry. The mood was all business as the Millrats are anxious to begin the season strong.
"The guys are chomping at the bit to start regular season play," explained Millrats Head Coach Larry Lessett, "I think they've had enough of going after themselves in practice."
The Millrats feature 2007 First Team ABA All Star Rob Sanders (Providence), former SNHU star PJ Young, 6'11 former UCONN center Souleymane Wane, and player/co-owner David Cooper.
